Welcome to my blog!
I am a graduate student in oceanography, trying to graduate within the next year. Throughout my time in graduate school, I've learned many tips and tricks to make my life easier. And some to help me survive. Since I've made it so far, I'd like to share what I've learned (and am still learning!) to help other graduate students. I try to keep my information general, but sometimes it is specific to the sciences, oceanography, or US universities. I hope you find it useful, and I would welcome any feedback!![]() |

Why I started this blog:
At heart, I'm a planner. As soon as I have a potential future event in mind, whether it is an upcoming conference, a trip somewhere new, a potential job, etc... I start planning. As a result, I've done a ton of internet research, gathering as much knowledge as I can. Often, I don't use what I find, or I store it away for later. Sometimes though, what I find makes my life better. And it is often something I never would have considered on my own. Since I'm doing the research, I wanted to share what I discovered with others, with you. Everyone's situation is different, but my hope is that something I've posted will help make your life in academia a bit easier or a bit better.
So browse around, and take everything with a grain of salt. What works for me may not work for you, but I hope you can find something useful nonetheless.
Points of importance:
1. All opinions are my own. I don't pretend to speak on behalf of any other person or organization. Occasionally I may mention or review websites, products, services, etc... These will always be my own honest opinions.
2. A lot of the pictures I post are my own. If you use them at all, please link back to my blog. If you are interested in using them for another purpose, please get in touch with me first.
